Nike, also known as the brand with the swoosh, is an American company headquartered in Oregon. Founded by running enthusiasts Philip Knight and Bill Bowerman, the brand originated from their vision to offer high-tech shoes at a more affordable price in the United States. They imported Tiger shoes from Japan, initially selling them at a lower price point than the Adidas shoes available at that time. Eventually, the Japanese company Onitsuka decided to enter the American market themselves. This prompted Philip and Bill to venture into creating their own line of shoes, leading to the birth of a unique brand. The name Nike is derived from Niké, the winged goddess known for her speed.
