In 1984, Michael Jordan had to make a choice regarding which sports brand to partner with. Despite having worn Converse during the Los Angeles Olympics, his true passion lied with Adidas. However, the feelings were not mutual. Adidas favored dominant inside players, not a shooting guard like him. Nike, on the other hand, made him a lucrative financial offer along with the opportunity to create his own clothing line. Eventually, the iconic basketball player signed a contract with Nike, persuaded by his mother, CEO Phil Knight, and agent David Falk. Thus, the Jordan brand was born.

The first sneaker released by Jordan was the Air Jordan 1 High. Its success led to multiple reeditions, including the AJ1 Court Purple (2021). Featuring a white grained leather base, the shoe incorporates metallic purple accents on elements such as the swoosh, outsole, Wings logo, and ankle collar. In contrast, the midsole and laces remain white. This design pays homage to the original Air Jordan 1 High silhouette.

The Air Jordan 1 High collection marks the debut of the renowned brand. Sneakers from this line have been widely embraced by streetwear enthusiasts. Other notable releases from the collection include the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG Court Purple White and the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Royal Toe.
