The Jordan brand was officially created in 1997 by Michael Jordan and the Swoosh brand. It all began when the young basketball player needed an equipment supplier for his entry into the NBA. After several meetings with other big brands of the time, he signed a sponsorship contract with Nike. Many companies were after the young rookie, but Nike's offer stood out. Upon collaborating with the American brand, a signature shoe was created in his name - the Air Jordan. This shoe quickly gained popularity, as did the other sneaker models from this brand. Following an agreement between Mr. Jordan and Nike, a clothing line bearing the legend's name was launched, eventually becoming a separate subsidiary of Nike.
